I think that a film needs a good script to be good. And you can find wonderful stories in many classics books. So, a lot of these books have been made into films: Dracula, The Wizard of Oz, The Picture of Dorian Gray...But in my opinion, you can find good stories in other kind of books, like comics.
Besides, I think that adapting books for the screen it's very difficult, because when you read a book you imagine the story by your way, and when you see it in a film you can feel disappointed. For example, "Perfume" is one of my favourites books, but I didn't like the film about it, because it couldn't make me feel what I felt when I read the book.
I think that one of the books mas famous taken to the screen is Tarzan. It is a movie that he(she) likes to the whole world. In addition it has been done in cartoon and in movie.
I agree with this idea because most of my favorite films are based on a classic book, like The Lord of the Rings, Sense and Sensibility, The last of the Mohicans, ... Beside, for children and young people there are great films like the Chronicles of Narnia, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory, that will keep the adults entertained as well. But apart of this, I have to say that reading the book is better that watching the movie, because in films they often change details, the names of the character or even the end and you can not imagine as if you are reading.

I think it depends on who produces or makes the film. I donn't like Disney films very much. I think that the morales valors they show are a quite trivial. For example:Cinderella. She is a poor girl but when she wears a beautiful dress and shoes, a prince falls in love with her? I don't like films about animals too. I think that they are very cruel. For example: Bambi. The film starts with the death of Bambi's mother. In the other hand I prefer classics books such as The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit... The film based on the book The Lord of The Ring was so good that I enjoy it deeply. I think that is the only film based on a book that is good. I am waiting for the film based on The Hobbit with ilusion. I have read that it may be they make the movie in 3D. It would be wonderful!
Well, I'm not sure about this. There are very good films based on classic books, and there are very bad films too. It depends on the money that the director has to make the film, depends on the actors, the special effects (if the film has them) and the story.
And there are classic books that are imposible to make a film from them, because of the story and the context.
Well, for instance, Lord of the Rings , I think it is a very good film , very well made , because of the money that it cost to make, because of the actors, special effects , the story, and the similar it is as the book is.
I think to read classic books is more interesting because people enjoy imagining how will be the place, the details, book's characters... However the books make good films can to offer the culture, the customs to people who readn't . Anyway big screen is other form of art which everybody appreciate it. The film can to arrive everywhere more hidden of the earth. I finish recomending the books as "voces del desierto" of Marlo Morgan, " Brooklyn follies" of Paul Auster...and good film as "El perro Mongol" " Ser y estar " , " Los puentes de Madison"...
